Wrinkle relaxation treatment in Oxford

Lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process, caused by the regular contraction of facial muscles below the surface of the skin.

At Fisher Clinics I take pride in providing safe and effective options for reducing or eliminating these fine lines and wrinkles.

After a comprehensive medical consultation, you may be able to undergo wrinkle-relaxation treatment in order to achieve a younger, rejuvenated and natural appearance.

You can be confident that you are being treated by an experienced medical doctor.

You may also wish to combine the treatment alongside dermal filler or mesotherapy treatment, in to create a balanced, hydrated, rejuvenation of other facial areas.

What is the treatment?

The drug used for wrinkle relaxation treatments is a prescription only medication that has been used medically since 1978. Within UK law the name of prescribed drugs are not allowed to be advertised, although it is a household name.

As a prescription only drug, it can only be issued to a medically trained professional such as a doctor, and administration is generally considered extremely safe when done by a trained specialist.

When injected, the product works to temporarily relax the facial muscles responsible for causing lines and wrinkles. As the muscles relax, the overlying skin— which has creased into fine folds — also relaxes, and lines and wrinkles smooth away.

What is the treatment experience?

The prescribed wrinkle-relaxing drug will be administed via a very fine needle just under the surface of the skin. For context the needle is 0.3mm wide, this is about three times smaller than a green needle used to take blood from the arm.

The volume of product needed per treatment is very small, about 0.1mls per injection site. This will usually leave a tiny bleb under the skin that fades over several minutes.

Depending on how many areas you are having treated, the procedure will take around 10-20 minutes of actual injecting, spread between 5-25 treatment points.

The most common areas that are requested for treatment are frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet (lines around the eyes). Its most common that all 3 areas are treated together.

Crow’s feet lines appear when we smile or laugh.

Frown lines (glabella) appear when the muscles pull our eyebrows together and down during concentration or frustration.

Forehead lines appear when we raise our eyebrows when talking or in suprise.

The forehead is the only area that can’t be treated in isolation - to maintain symmetry the frown lines are usually treated at the same time.

Additionally, we now offer two further specialised aesthetic treatments:

Jawline Slimming — This treatment targets the masseter muscles at the jaw, refining the lower face and creating a more defined, feminine jawline. While this is offered purely for aesthetic enhancement, it may also have added benefits such as reducing muscle activity associated with bruxism (teeth grinding) and alleviating tension-type headaches.

Nefertiti Neck Lift — This technique uses the same type of wrinkle-relaxing injection along the lower jaw-line, down the neck, and sometimes the platysmal bands, to create a smoother, firmer neck contour and a lifted appearance. Ideal for refining the jaw and neck area for a more elegant profile.

Also note: treating the forehead area with wrinkle-relaxation injections may have the added benefit of reducing excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Please note however that at Fisher Clinics we are only insured for the aesthetic indication (i.e., smoothing forehead lines) and not for treatment of hyperhidrosis as a medical indication.
